Christmas is cancelled - I'm calling in sick this year. Hurry, Spring, hurry.

Lois Wheatley Born on October 11, 1948 in San Jose, California, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 8th. A 1966 graduate of Del Mar High School, in San Jose, Lois (Shaver) Wheatley is survived by her husband, David Wheatley, her daughter Jennifer Cody of San Jose, her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sarah Cody of Oakland, and her sister Betty Bennett of Seattle, Washington. Lois worked for AT&T, Bay Networks, MCI and most recently, Westcor. Lois loved traveling, movies, music and animals. She enjoyed baseball and spent many days at San Francisco Giants games. She was the score keeper for the Jerseys Softball team, in Campbell, California for over 14 years. Lois always had a smile and kind word, and was the type of person people loved to talk with.

Mother, your last breath. . .
I was there as you were
at my first.

Mother, old photos
of you, young and radiant –
pregnant at 18
and easy to see why!

Oh my.
Oedipal urges. . .

i am sorry richard. i don't what i would do if either of my parents passed away...but i do know that kind words from others would not take my sadness away...so i won't say anything else.

mamatha,

You are right, of course, about condolences and kind words. As a giver and receiver of condolences (the latter, especially, in the last year with the passing of both my mother and father), I know how pointless and vacant such words can seem. But the thoughts behind them, the commiseration as evidenced by your own words, are genuine and human, and therein lies the value. So, thank you.

All the best Richard, sorry to hear about this terrible loss. A nice tribute though.
