I should be out of bed,

I hit the snooze bar again.

 

A recurring theme in this space...

 

 

Voices from the street

Voices from the street,

the trolley bell rings, curled up

we drift into sleep.

I lay myself down

I lay myself down

and pick up Dickens,

sleep hovers near.

Reading in bed

After midnight,

I put myself to bed

with a good book.

Nearly dawn,

I wake with my book

in my face.

6 a.m. alarm

I ride the snooze button
for half an hour.

Fresh from the shower

Fresh from the shower,

I slide between crisp new sheets,

naked into sleep.
