Reading a good book

Reading a good book –
poetry or prose – makes me
want to write my own.

I know the feeling!

Richard, I remember reading "Winter's Tale" and at first thinking I wanted to write a book. Then I got so intimidated by Helprin's style that I backed off! This was like a great appetizer - one bite, you're ready for the main course. Your style is short but sweet, and that's always hard for me - you do it so well. Peace, Amy

I guess many of us do, Libby!I believe that writers are also readers, so I suspect this a kind of perpetual loop of influence and creation which writers/readers are in the middle of.

Amy - I read Winter's Tale" ages ago! I remember being enchanted by that book. I may still have my copy cos' i'd intended to re-read it at some point. I'll have to see if it survived recent book purges.

I do try to keep it short and, yes, sweet. This style has even influenced my longer work.

Thanks, as always, for reading!
